Built for Diesel: Two Proven Configurations

For barrels and drums, select our PB series. It’s a top-mounted, all-plastic, swing-arm drum gauge made to fit 55-, 30-, and 15-gallon containers with ¾-in, 1½-in, or 2-in bung openings. Once installed, the red indicator shows level immediately—no power required—and the face is marked in eighths and quarters for quick inventory checks. That combination keeps drum fuel monitoring accurate and repeatable without exposing staff to vapors.

For storage tanks, choose our PD (direct-reading) series. All-plastic PD models are great choices for fuels and are custom-cut for each tank so the indicator corresponds to the actual diesel volume in your vessel. Typical PD build ranges span 17 to 110 inches for all-plastic configurations; other Krueger direct-reading builds can cover 6 inches up to 12 feet depending on materials—a practical envelope that covers day tanks, farm tanks, and generator diesel day-tanks. Indicators are again graduated in eighths/quarters for quick, unambiguous reads.

Fits Your Tank, Not the Other Way Around

Every install is different. We manufacture to your actual tank depth, and we can accommodate double-walled designs as well as pipe risers, so the gauge sits where it should and reads what you need. Bushing sizes are available in ¾-in, 1½-in, and 2-in, and your team can specify indicator preferences during ordering. The result is a drop-in mechanical gauge that aligns with your existing venting, fill, and overfill prevention practices without re-plumbing the tank.

Materials That Make Sense for Diesel

Diesel storage demands a careful balance: enough metal for structural strength and ruggedness, enough compatibility to avoid corrosion, and materials that tolerate both fuel exposure and environmental wear.

Krueger Sentry offers several models and material packages that deploy metal where it adds value, while retaining plastic or synthetic parts where necessary to maintain fuel compatibility and prevent corrosion:

The GFK Gauge (Type GFK) features an all-metal top housing made of cast aluminum, galvanized steel rods, and an aluminum bushing. It is built to last, especially in smaller tanks between 8 and 48 inches deep, where vibration or physical wear are concerns. Because the top is all metal, it stands up better to knocks and environmental exposure, though its float is typically plastic unless you request a stainless float upgrade.
The Type D (“At-A-Glance”) Gauge / PD version comes by default with galvanized steel rods, HDPE plastic float, and aluminum bushing—this is a solid mixed construction. If you want more metal, you can upgrade to stainless steel rods, or go further to stainless floats. The PD “all plastic” version uses PEEK or Kynar rods, PVC bushings, and HDPE floats. These all-plastic models are great when you need zero metal wetted parts. Depths for Type D span from 6 inches up to 144 inches for most metal/mixed builds; plastic builds are somewhat more limited in depth to only 110 inches in length.
The Type H (Therma Gauge) offers the most flexibility for metal/stainless components. Its standard build is galvanized steel rods, aluminum bushing, and HDPE float. But with the level upgrades you can get stainless rods (Level 1), stainless rods + stainless float (Level 2), and in Level 3 you get full metal upgrades including stainless rods, stainless float, and stainless bushing, plus tougher calibration materials (like glass) in some versions. Type H gauges also cover depths from 6 to 144 inches, and you can choose 1.5″ or 2″ NPT openings (vented or non-vented).

Add Capabilities When You Need Them

If you want more than a local readout, add a Hi/Lo audible alarm or LED At-A-Glance remote indicator to your mechanical gauge. Those options turn a straightforward, top-mounted gauge into a system that warns operators before a delivery overfill or a generator day-tank run-dry event—without complicating maintenance or introducing electronics that don’t belong in your application.
